Huntersville, NC

The town of Huntersville is located 15 miles north of downtown Charlotte, in Mecklenburg County, NC. Once a settlement known as Craighead, Huntersville received its present name in honor of a prominent farming family headed by Robert Boston Hunter, who contributed to the area’s cotton farming success in the 19th century. Huntersville incorporated as a town in 1873, and grew quickly as businesses, such as the Virgin Manufacturing Company, thrived and attracted employees and residents to the area. Huntersville is now situated on the southeast shores of beautiful Lake Norman, but this wasn’t always true; Lake Norman, the largest manmade body of fresh water in North Carolina, was created between 1959 and 1964 by Duke Power, who constructed the Cowans Ford Dam to service the Piedmont region of North Carolina with electricity. Fed by the Catawba River, Lake Norman has a surface area of more than 50 square miles, and offers 250 miles of shoreline, and its vast natural beauty and recreation possibilities immediately attracted many residents and visitors to Huntersville and its surrounding communities. Between the allure of Lake Norman and the close proximity to the bustling city of Charlotte, Huntersville experienced a population growth of 728 percent in the decade between 1990 and 2000.

Although there are approximately 40,000 people living in Huntersville today, the town is still considered by many to be a lake haven with quiet neighborhoods and a charming, friendly atmosphere. The community has received many accolades over the years; in 2005, Money magazine ranked Huntersville as #76 on its list of “Best Places to Live in America,” and Grey House Publishing recognized the town as one of “America’s Top-Rated Smaller Cities.” Residents of Huntersville enjoy a variety of attractions in Mecklenburg County and all over the Charlotte Metro Area—from museums, shopping, and dining to outdoor recreation. Huntersville has 18 historic sites, including the Hopewell Presbyterian Church and Cemetery, which dates back to the 1740s, and the Hugh Torrance House and Store, the oldest surviving store in the county, established in the 1770s. In contrast to these heritage sites are new, world-class retail centers such as that in Birkdale Village, which features top label fashion stores Ann Taylor Loft, Chico’s, and Jones New York, as well as home décor and bookstores, casual and fine dining, and a movie theater—all in a Nantucket village style atmosphere complete with bubbling fountains and manicured gardens.

Abbington Woods

Abbington Woods is located on the rural part of west side of Huntersville, NC off Beatties Ford rd.  Homes range in the $300's - $500's and have large 1 acre lots near Mtn. Island Lake.  Community amenities include Pool, Tennis courts and playground.  Schools are Barnette Elementary, Bradley Middle School and Hopewell High School. 

Aberdeen Park

Aberdeen Park is a small community on the rural side of the west side of Huntersville, NC.  Homes were built starting in 2006 and priced in the $300's with 1/2 acre lots most of them backing to trees.  The feature side load garages and a craftsmen look with stone accents.  Size ranges from about 2400 sqft - 4000 sqft.  The community has no amenities but is a great buy for large sqft, craftsmen look and small community feel.

Arbor Craft

Arbor Craft is on the east side of Huntersville, NC just minutes from shopping and restaurants. 

Alexander Place

Alexander Place in the east side of Huntersville, NC.  Homes for sale are priced in the 200's.

Barkley

Barkley community is located off Beatties Ford rd on the west side of Huntersville, NC.  Homes for sale range in the $200's and are 5 minutes from a public boat launch to Mtn Island lake and within 7-10 minutes from Lake Norman and Birkdale Village.  Lots are at least .25 acres and community ammenities include pool, tennis, playground and walking trails.

 Cashion Woods

Caldwell Station

  Caldwell station in Huntersville, NC's east side built by DR Horton.  Homes are priced in the upper $100's - $200's. Homes have a craftsmen look with front porches, detatched garages, and alley ways.  These low maintanance vinyl siding homes with smaller lawns also have community ammenities such has a pool and playground.

Cambridge Grove is located behind the Target off exit 25 in Huntersville, NC's east side.  Built in the late 1990's this community has brick and vinyl construction with lots ranging from .25 - .5 acre lots and have established trees.  Homes are priced in the upper $200's - $300's. 

    Carrington Ridge

 Carrington Ridge is located at the corner of Beatties Ford rd and Bud Henderson rd on the west side of Huntersville, NC. Real Estate in this craftsmen like, low maintanance community is priced in the $200's to $300's.  Building started in 2004 and community should be completed by 2010 adn is across the street from the Huntersville soccer park, Barnette Elementary and Bradley Middle School making it convienient for kids to walk to school.  Ammenities include pool, playground and recreation area.

    Centennial

Centennial is located off beautiful Huntersville-Concord rd on the east side of Huntersville, NC just past the historic downtown Huntersville.  Just minutes from the new Discovery Place for kids location and future planned light rail these homes low maintance siding and lot sizes around .25 acres.  The character of this community boasts front porches and open floor plans.  Future plans for a new elementary school next to the community will be a great asset to the area as kids will be able to walk to school.  The community has a pool, playground and walking trails.      Douglas Park

Douglas Park is a small community on the west side of Huntersville, NC built by Saussy Burbank. Hardboard siding, front porches, detatched garages and low maintanance lawns as well has colorful homes are a few features of this community.  You can generally find homes in this community at a fraction of the cost of Birkdale simply because it is 7 minutes from shopping and restaurants.  Homes are priced in the upper $100's - $200's.  

      Gilead Village  

Gilead Village is also a Saussy Burbank community on the west side of Huntersville, NC off Bud Henderson rd and Gilead rd.  Homes range in sqft up to about 2000 sqft with colorful homes, detatched garages, hardboard siding, low maintanance lawns and front porches.  Home are in the upper $100's. 

    Gilead Ridge

Gilead Ridge is a Ryan builders community on the west side of Huntersville, NC off Gilead rd.  A rural feel yet within 7 minutes of shopping, restaurants and beautiful Lake Norman. Real Estate is priced in the $200's - $300's in this community of brick and vinyl homes.    Green Farm

Green Farm is a great community off exit 25 and sam furr rd on the east side of Huntersville, NC. Built in the 1990's the feature mature landscapes and large yards up to 1/2 acre lots. The location is less then a mile from I-77, shopping and restaurants. Homes range in the $300's to $400's.   

The Hamptons

Lake Norman

Lake Norman community in Huntersville, NC is a small community of homes on nearly 1 acre of land on Lake Norman.  The homes were built prior to the boom and priced around the million dollar mark.

  MacAulay
